JoJo and The World Class Wrecking Crew at Peckham Fringe 2026

The moment the performance ended, the entire theatre rose to its feet for a huge standing ovation and sustained, enthusiastic applause.

Earlier this month I had the pleasure of playing JoJo in The World Class Wrecking Crew, a new play by Barney Herrin directed by Iris Supple-Still and presented at Theatre Peckham as the closing production of Peckham Fringe 2026.

Set over the course of a single night in South London, the play explores fatherhood, friendship, graffiti culture, addiction, artistic expression and the challenge of growing older. JoJo, a former graffiti writer turned spiritual seeker, finds himself caught between the obsessions of old friend Norty and the realities facing a younger generation.

The production ran for two performances on 4 and 5 June and received an extraordinary response from audiences, culminating in standing ovations on both nights and many memorable conversations with audience members after the show.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the production was being part of a small cast working with a new script that connected so strongly with its audience. New writing always carries an element of risk, and it was exciting to see how audiences responded to the humour, heart and emotional complexity of the story.

Reviewing for Corr Blimey, Marina Funcasta awarded the production five stars and described JoJo as:

“a graffiti artist turned spiritualist played by Sid Edwards, whose warmth and humour provide a welcome counterbalance…”

The review praised the play’s exploration of family, art, addiction and change, as well as the audience response generated by the production.

A second review by Faye Stockley also highlighted the audience reaction, noting:

“The moment the performance ended, the entire theatre rose to its feet for a huge standing ovation and sustained, enthusiastic applause.”

While reviewers differed in their assessment of the production’s length, both recognised the strength of the performances and the connection the piece established with audiences.

My thanks go to Barney Herrin, Iris Supple-Still, the entire creative team, fellow cast members Daniel Wain, Oscar Henry and Mahailer Palmer, and everyone at Theatre Peckham for making the production possible.
