Poem: What took you so long?

It’s not like we never told you all along.
On the page, on the street even in song.
At your hands our cousins have passed and gone.
The list of their names is long and goes on.

OK, now you see that something was wrong
And finally come to the realisation
That #BlackLivesMatter. What took you so long?
Whatever. Let’s move in a new direction.

There’s things to be done and things undone.
Systems to fix and races re-run.
There will be resistance that we’ll overcome.
Change is something to fear for some.

The race has much knowledge and great wisdom.
Can craft and can share a brand new vision.
Marshalling minds from every region.
One globe. One aim. One destination.
